Calm Waters

I arrived for my early morning swim and the waters were calm.....

I jump in - no actually that's not quite true I gingerly walk in at the edge - no point in risking a jolt to the poor old heart is there!

So I am blissfully, elegantly swimming women's breast stroke - you know what I mean - head up so as not to get water in eyes, up nose or hair wet :) quietly gathering my thoughts whilst congratulating myself on my endeavours to get fit and sylph like (ok stop sniggering - mammoth ocean swim required for me to get sylph like)

And blooming 'eck what on earth is happening - is it a tidal wave? Silly - I am in a swimming pool! I am stopped in my tracks (lane!) it's like swimming in rough seas - actually, come to think of it, I have never swum in rough seas!

No it's not a tidal wave - just an Olympic swimmer! No not really, just a man who thinks he is! How can one man cause so many rough waves in a pool? Bravely I carry on huffing and puffing against the swell and the waves, water up nose, coughing and spluttering - head no longer above water, hair now soaking wet - drowned rat comes to mind! :(

Mental note to self 'bring snorkel next time' (snorkel not for me, no, no I couldn't possibly put my head under water!) It's for would be Olympic swimmer - if he swims underwater he can't possibly make so many waves can he?
