Some things you just can't live without

There are some things you just can't live without...

They are a sounding board, a comfort, great for spreading the word and a good source of honest feedback.

But at times they are frustrating, take up your time and drive you to distraction!

Now you may think I could be talking about my other half!  Tee hee!  But no I'm not!:)

I am talking about Social Media!  Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin and heaven only knows how many more, but these are the only ones I can possibly keep up with!

And do you know what is the most frustrating?  You just get to know your way around and ........... they (I mean the powers that be) decide they must change it!  Why do they do that?  Come on - stop it!  We are doing our best out here in the big wide world trying to keep up with all this new fandangled online networking stuff!

We 'little' business people, who don't have minions running around to keep us up to date with Social Media, don't have time to get our heads round new stuff as well as putting posts on Facebook, tweeting, pinning pictures and keeping Linkedin profiles current!

It's all so complicated!

Let's take Facebook for example.  A florist has been commissioned by the same couple as us for their wedding photography wants to link up with us on Facebook and has to 'like' our page to do so.  Great, we say and we are happy to reciprocate!

But wait a minute!  Remember you will have to 'like' our business page from your personal page in order for your 'like' to work! ? Why?  I can't answer that - suffice it to say it only works that way!

And another thing!  Sometimes when I post a picture on Facebook - out of nowhere someone, who is not a follower, pops up to 'like' - so how do they find me because every time I do a search for my business it never comes up with my Facebook page???   I am not complaining, obviously,  but I would really like to know how it works so that I can post more relevant and meaningful posts!

Twitter!  I suffer a little with verbal diarhhoea (as you are probably aware) and every message I tweet I have to go back and shorten because there are always too many words!  I do understand that this is the whole purpose of twitter - you should just be twittering not writing a novel!

Oh and I have set up Twitter to update Facebook and vice versa, but if you want to be sure your subject gets found on Twitter you require a # in the relevant place - consequently my Facebook fans either think I have lost the plot or I can't type as there are #'s all over the place!

Are you getting my drift with all this stuff?

I began pinning and following people on Pinterest - but wasn't quite sure why?  But anyway, just in case, I have several boards now!

Linkedin I still have no idea how it works - but someone told me years ago I should be a member so I became one!

But as I say there are some things you can't live without and Social Media is definitely one of them and so we had better continue trying to get to grips with it!

Oh and just in case you feel the urge to follow or even just to take a look - go ahead and click away - be pleased to see you there!
